The purpose of this work is to present a general view of structural elements and functional concepts related to eyeball nerves through history. At the same time present a critic argumentation to different authors’ concepts in their historic moment, based on original articles and key books in the history of neurosciences and medicine, highlighting that historic reality will make more transcendental the pragmatic horizon of professionals who care about eye health.
