Oculomotor paralysis is a total loss of the ocular muscle function. The objective of this work was to establish the prevalence of oculomotor paralysis in orthoptic consultation, to define the signs and symptoms as well as their etiology. Methods: this was a retrospective study. All the clinical records between 2004 and 2006 whose patients were remitted to orthoptic consultation in a private doctor’s office were checked. Cases diagnosed with paralysis were chosen. The analysis was done through Excel and the prevalence of oculomotor paralysis was established according to their etiology, signs and symptoms. It also took into account age, gender and systemic association. Results: a total of 3808 clinical records were studied, out of which 30 cases had oculomotor paralysis, which represented 0.78% of the analyzed sample. - Experiences in management of production systems of social interest: The case of Corpoc and Furmos foundation

The theories of human development from human capabilities have, as theoretical references, the competencies of affiliation, achievement and power, as well as the analysis of business management. This article aims to compare experiences of productive systems of social interest from an analysis of the particular cases of the Furmos and Corpoc companies. The starting point was a previous project conducted in Corpoc; information was gathered through interviews and work sessions, and the institutions were characterized. It was found that the Corpoc management model is flat associative with a single leader and the Furmos model is a strategic associative partnership management model. Their members depend on the leader with their motivations and achievements, and their projects do not have a management model. Therefore, the lack of a suitable formulation of management models prevents the continuity and success of social production projects in the two institutions. - Pasado, presente y futuro de la ortóptica… ¿hasta cuándo intervenir?

Objective: To determine the prevalence of impaired color vision and visual motor dysfunctionin a group of children aged between five and fifteen years in the localities of Fontibon, PuenteAranda and Usaquén in Bogota. Methodology: We conducted a descriptive study in 243 patientswho were studying in schools representing each locality. Each child was subjected to the Ishiharaand Farnsworth tests of visual-motor integration (vmi). Statistical analysis was performed usingcontingency tables and ji2 (c2). Results: The prevalence of impairments in color vision was 6.7%(6/89 Ishihara test) and 14.6% (13/89 Farnsworth test) for the Spanish school in Puente Aranda, 2.4% (2/84 Ishihara test) and 4.8% (4/84 Farnsworth test) for the Pablo Neruda school in Fontibón,and 2.9% (2/70 Ishihara test) and 10% (7 / 70 Farnsworth test) for the La Salle School in Usaquén.The prevalence of visual-motor dysfunction was 55.1% (49/89) for the Spanish school in PuenteAranda, 28.6% (24/84) for the Pablo Neruda school in Fontibón, and 18.6% (13/70) for the LaSalle School in Usaquén. Conclusions: The prevalence of impaired color vision and visual motordysfunction was higher in the villages of Puente Aranda and Fontibon than in the town of Usaquén. - Prevalence of Dysfunctions in Saccadic Movements, Visual Perceptual Skills and Visual-Motor Integration in Emmetropic Children between the Ages of Six and Seven from Socio-Economic Levels 1 and 2 in Bogota

Objective to determine the prevalence of dysfunctions in saccadic movements, visual perceptual skills and visual-motor integration in emmetropic children between the ages of six and seven from socio-economic levels 1 and 2 in Bogota. This study is part of the macroproject Influence of visual perceptual skills, visual-motor integration and saccadic movements in the reading and writing process. Methodology An observational descriptive study was conducted. Patients between the ages of six and seven were assessed. Clinically emmetropic patients underwent TVPS-3 testing (visual-perceptual skills), Beery VMI (visual motor integration) and DEM (saccadic movements). For statistical analysis, a database in Excel was used to record the results of the test, and correlation tests were used in the SPSS program for the bivariate analysis. Results Results revealed a prevalence of visoperceptual dysfunction by 42.89% (41/91), visual-motor dysfunction by 97.39% (89/91) and saccadic movements dysfunction by 80.14% (73/91) in the group of six-year-old children. They also revealed visoperceptual dysfunction by 36.74% (43/117), visual-motor dysfunction by 100% (117/117) and saccadic movements dysfunction by 61.19% (81/117) in the group of seven-year-old children. Conclusions Children of six and seven years of age have a low prevalence of visoperceptual skill alterations, a high prevalence of dysfunctions in visual-motor integration and a high prevalence of saccadic movement dysfunctions measured by the DEM, where types 3 and 4 are predominant. - Prevalence of visualmotor and visualperceptual dysfunctions in children between five and nine years of school of Fontibón, Puente Aranda and Usaquén

Objective: to determine the prevalence of visualmotor and visualperceptual dysfunctions in children between 5 and 9 years of Fontibón, Puente Aranda and Usaquén towns. Methods: it was made a transversal descriptive study in which were evaluated 128 patients with the TVPS-3 and Beery VMI tests. The statistic analysis was done by contingency charts, chi square y association degree with Rho Spearman´s correlation coefficient Results: the prevalence of visual- motor dysfunctions was: 20.5% for Pablo Neruda school of Fontibon, 31.6% for España School of Puente Aranda y 8.7% for De La Salle School of Usaquén. The prevalence of visoperceptual dysfunctions was: 52.6% for Pablo Neruda School of Fontibon, 66.6% for España School of Puente Aranda y 14.2% for De La Salle School of Usaquén. The spearman´s rho showed that there is a low but significant correlation coefficient between the test results; it means that, as one test score high, the other one is high too. Conclusions: the prevalence of visualmotor and visualperceptual dysfunctions was major in Fontibón and Puente Aranda than Usaquén.
