Este ensayo examina los cambios arquitectónicos introducidos a finales del siglo XIX en la ciudad de Caracas, bajo el gobierno de Antonio Guzmán Blanco; los cuales inician a la nación en su tránsito por la modernidad, teniendo como punto de partida los ideales positivistas de orden y progreso. A través de la investigación documental se relacionan los cambios arquitectónicos y los cambios culturales experimentados por la capital venezolana a la entrada de un nuevo siglo, y cómo éstos dejaron una huella indeleble en la historia de la nación, superando momentos de crisis social y natural.
This essay examines the architectural changes introduced at the end of the 19th century in the city of Caracas, under the government of Antonio Guzmán Blanco; which initiate the nation in its transit through modernity, having as its starting point the positivist ideals of order and progress. This documentary investigation exposes the architectural changes and cultural changes experienced by the Venezuelan capital at the entrance of a new century, and how these left an indelible mark on the history of the nation, overcoming moments of social and natural crisis.
