Purpose: To offer a methodological guide for the implementation of the interpretative phenomenological analysis (AFI), especially for those who begin in qualitative research. Topic: Interpretive phenomenological analysis as a method for understanding personal experiences and their application in the field of psychology. Development: The general characteristics of the AFI methodology are presented, then each of its stages is described, from the formulation of the research question and access to the field to the selection of the participants and the collection of information. Finally, the phases and procedures for data analysis are described in detail, as well as the writing and presentation of the results. Conclusion: Interpretive phenomenological analysis is a qualitative research approach that seeks to understand the meanings associated with the lived experience. At present, it enjoys great recognition and is widely used in the field of psychology, especially in English-speaking countries. - Adaptation and Validation of the Self Transcendence Inventory for Adults in the Argentine context

Introduction: In recent years self-transcendence has gained increasing interest within psychological literature. Currently, the Adult Self Transcendence Inventory (ASTI) is one of the main scales used in empirical research for measuring self transcendence. Objective: The present study aims to adapt and validate the scale to the Argentine context in a sample of 205 high school and university students in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Method: A confirmatory factor analysis of the factor structure of the adapted Adult Self Transcendence Inventory was conducted to assess whether the scale's purported 2 factors emerged. The results generally supported the 2-factor model. - Motivations for volunteering: theoretical considerations and a proposal for operationalization

Introduction: Volunteering can be defined as non-spontaneous, planned long-term prosocial behavior provided in an organizational context and that actively seeks to benefit strangers (Penner, 2002). Objective: Given the interest in knowing the factors that drive a person to get involved and remain in voluntary service, the main theoretical considerations related to the motivations for volunteering are presented, proposing an instrument for its operationalization. Method: With the aid of five expert judges, an instrument consisting of 62 questions was built with the answer sheet adopting a 7-point Likert format. 320 young adults, aged 18 to 30 years (M = 22.34; SD = 3.36) participated in the study. Results: The psychometric properties of the scale were analyzed based on: a) the discriminative power of the items, b) the underlying structure of the test, and c) the internal consistency of the scale. The results obtained show adequate psychometric validity. Conclusions: The questionnaire for the evaluation of motivational reasons for volunteering could be a useful tool for recruiting volunteers, placing candidates in appropriate positions and designing strategies that encourage them to continue volunteering. - Professional identity of an educational psychologist: a case study in Chile

Introduction: Educational psychology faces the need to delimit actions and roles, overcome catering for individual differences, and consider the role of school culture. These challenges impact on the identity of educational psychologists, who are currently being hired under the SEP Law in Chile. Objectives: This study described the identity of a school psychologist and the processes of social interaction that lead her to construct this identity, in the context of a Chilean municipal school with its respective micro-political dynamics within the framework of the SEP Law. Methodology: A single case study is conducted through in-depth interviews and one focus group, with a psychologist hired with resources from the SEP Law, teachers and students. Categorical content analyses was performed. Results: There is a tension of the psychologist between being and not being part of the school, as well as peripheral positioning. Her identity is put into tension under a process of negotiation of professional identity. Conclusions: The results are discussed concerning the intensification and disarticulation of work, the ideological complicity, the clinical role of psychology, and the impact of the SEP Law and the micro politics in this scenario. - Preliminary psychometric properties of the Common Intervention Scale (CIS): an instrument to study actions of therapists from different theoretical framework

Objetives: This article aims to present the Scale of Common Interventions (EIC), an instrument aimed at exploring the use of psychotherapeutic interventions used by therapists of different theoretical frameworks and analyze its psychometric properties. Methodology: A non-probabilistic sample of 101 psychoanalytic and cognitive behavioral therapists completed an online version of the scale based on the last session with an adult patient. Based on this data preliminary reliability analyzes and an exploratory factor analysis was performed. Subsequently, to validate the factorial structure of the instrument, a confirmatory factor analysis was performed, based on data from a new sample of 213 therapists identified with various theoretical frameworks that completed the scale. Results: The exploratory factor analysis suggested a first solution of three factors; as one of them did not have the minimum required items per factor, said items were excluded and a new factor analysis was generated that resulted in a two-factor solution, which explained 71.1% of the total variance. The ordinal α coefficients presented levels adequate reliability in both factors. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that all estimated standardized loads of the nine items presented parameters significant (p <0.001). Discussion: The EIC is presented as a scale, which has evidence of validity and reliability, which as a short and simple instrument can represent a valuable contribution to studies aimed at evaluating psychotherapeutic interventions in the Latin American context.
