This article is the partial result of a monitoring process conducted in 2011 on a solidarity-based eco- nomy venture created by garbage salvagers in Bogotá. The process was conducted to show the venture’s potential and limitations within the framework of public policy for solid waste management. The article centers on understanding the reach and conditions for this type of organization, given that their mode of production is not capital, but their work, as well as the communities that constitute their foundation or context. The focus of the ongoing research is qualitative and participative, and seeks to create knowledge through interaction with the key figures in this organizational experience. These people are therefore also recognized as contributing to and generating relevant knowledge according to their social praxis. - The Stock Market and Cooperatives

It is now apparent that the stock market, as it has continued to develop in Colombia, offers access to a greater number of participants. Accordingly, cooperative societies and medium-sized enterprises have more opportunities. This document presents one of the options for accessing the primary market in Colombia. In this sense, the alternative stock market becomes an effective tool that has demonstrated results in Europe, and given the similarity to a great number of Colombian companies, it is an option that is worth keeping in mind. This study shows how alternative stock markets function in industrialized countries such as Spain, England and France, in order to draw a parallel with Colombia, and stimulate debate around the possibility of consolidating a similar model in Colombia. - Partnerships and Production Chains: A Development Alternative for the Municipality of Yopal, Casanare

In 2012, more than 21,000 cooperatives of different types were registered in Argentina. In recent deca- des, cooperativism has been vindicated, particularly in the area of work cooperatives, as an “alternative” for overcoming the employment crisis. As a result, this sector gained importance within the cooperative sphere, in contrast to the growth rate of other cooperative enterprises. This article analyzes the develop- ment of Argentinian cooperativism over the past decade and its relationship with economic and political affairs. The study is based on statistical analysis of official information available from Instituto Nacional de Asociativismo y Economía Social (inaes), and characterizes the evolution of the sector.
