Revista: SIGNOS - Investigación en sistemas de gestión
Autores: Ortiz Méndez, Giovanni Andrés
Fecha de publicación en la Revista: 2021-07-01
This article’s purpose is to present the results of a literature review to identify the theoretical references that contribute to develop a methodology for the evaluation of occupational safety and health costs. Twenty-six (26) publications from 3 databases were reviewed, including articles found through an iterative search. For analyzing the information, a specialized analytical summary matrix was developed. This study made it possible to identify that studies on occupational safety and health including cost evaluations are currently being carried out in the world. Moreover, it was possible to determine the theoretical references that would contribute to developing a cost evaluation methodology in occupational safety and health: direct costs, indirect costs and indicators (economic evaluations); and the analyzes that have been carried out on the different criteria established by each one. - Evolution and implementation models of business continuity management systems

The business continuity management system (BCMS) is a tool that allows organizations to prepare for scenarios affecting their normal functioning. In this process, an impact assessment and risk assessment is required, identifying, establishing and evaluating business continuity plans (BCP) to ensure resources and necessary personnel availability. In this article the evolution, BCM implementation models, and associated risk management strategies are addressed. Thirty-seven (37) articles related to BCM are analized concluding that BCM evolution has allowed organizations to access models that facilitate the system implementation, according to the needs, availability of resources, personnel competence and with a PHVA approach (plan, do, check and act). - Methodology for measuring productivity in health services providers institutions

An analysis of the different methodologies described worldwide for measuring productivity in the health sector is presented. For this, a descriptive literature review is developed from the literature found in indexed databases and an iterative search. As results, it was found that the main methodologies currently used for measuring productivity and efficiency are data envelopment analysis (DEA) in combination with other methods. Finally, it is concluded that there are several measurement methodologies described in the literature and in each one of them there is a combination of different methods and variables to be evaluated, according to the researcher's approach; However, developing further studies is necessary to address new variables that influence the growth and decrease of efficiency and productivity, as well as their relationship with quality in the provision of health services. - Methodological application: the integrated use of management system standards for management systems integration

Various methodologies have been developed since the 1990s for integrating multiple management systems in all types of organizations. However, at present it is little known that the International Standard Organization (ISO) has developed its own integration methodology that allows aligning different normative perspectives in a single management. The Manual The Integrated Use of Management System Standard (IUMSS) sets out a four main stage method (preparation, connection, incorporation and maintenance) wherein the high-level structure serves as a guide to integrate common requirements, counterparts and to address the specific ones. The research objective was to establish a methodology for the integration of the follwoing standards: NTC ISO 14001: 2015 environmental management system, NTC ISO 45001: 2018 occupational health and safety system and NTC ISO 13485: 2016 quality management systems for medical devices; by using the manual through a qualitative and analytical description. Finally, the standards integration methodology was validated through Régnier's abacus method, concluding that the manual is a robust tool aimed at reducing excess redundancies and closing gaps between the integrated ISO standards and an organization's processes requirements. - Management of university publishing houses and the strategic transfer of knowledge in Panama

The research aims to identify a competitive management model in the management of university publishing houses and the strategic transfer of knowledge in Panama, consistent with the mission of Panamanian public universities and with the dissemination of knowledge, being the university publishing houses challenge to bring knowledge to society. The general objective focused on analyzing the management models of three public university publishing houses in Panama, in terms of their alignment with the university goals, objectives and policies, in the transfer of knowledge. A qualitative investigation was performed with the elements intended to carry out the scientific processes of induction, deduction, analysis and synthesis of the information collected. Among the data collection techniques, the observational method, applied to the three public universities that have publishing houses, and the documentary analysis predominated. The results obtained gave rise to a model that is complemented by the characteristics of university publishing houses, although the change is still needed to encourage them to create a national network of alliances, which promotes products and services, and provides the necessary support to user. - Harmonization between document management, quality and information security in a higher education institution

Document management is a cross-cutting process aimed at facilitating the use of information in organizations to fulfill their mission purpose and preserve the documentary heritage. The proper treatment of information becomes one of the intangible and substantial values to manage the organization as a whole. This is about articulating the management systems to ensure efficiency in objectives acomplishment. This article presents the results of a mixed approach descriptive research, oriented to the development of a harmonization methodology between document management, quality and information security systems in a higher education institution. In the first phase a diagnosis was applied to verify the compliance level with the aforementioned systems; in the second phase the turning points were identified, in the third phase the harmonization methodology was designed and in the fourth phase the proposed methodology was validated. Among the main results, the identification of the turning points and a methodological guide to guide harmonization stand out. It is concluded that, despite some differences in content and processes of the systems studied, similarities predominate. - Quality management of medical devices. ISO 13485 Implementation Guide

This research was aimed at creating a methodological guide for the implementation of the quality management system based on the NT ISO 13485: 2016 for medical devices manufacturers, which seeks to share with its readers the parameters necessary for implementing regulatory purposes and convey a perspective on how organizations should apply the standard requirements. The research considered the needs and expectations of organizations in Colombia producing medical devices, evaluated their ability to provide products and services that meet requirements and promote customer satisfaction through continuous improvement. The research starts from a theoretical base that analyzes the application of ISO 13485: 2016 and the requirement of good manufacturing practices in different countries, and the competitive advantages present by exploring the existing literature and the standard requirements. This article results have a mixed approach: quantitative, through the development of a self-diagnosis tool; and qualitative, through a methodological guide development. In each section of the standard, an exposition structure was adopted to facilitate content consultation and compression, thus fulfilling the purpose and applicability aiming to guide a clear and simple implementation. - Quality management and GMP in micro and small alcoholic beverage manufacturing establishments in Colombia

The alcoholic beverage manufacturing sector in Colombia faces a challenge regarding their processess improvement, pursuant to the provisions set out in Decree 1686/2012, wherein the binding force of the certificate in good manufacturing practices was set forth, setting out an initial two years term for compliance thereof. This is how the established term has been amended several times in Decrees 1506/2014, 262/2017 and 216/2019, due to the low compliance indicators of the manufacturing sector, mainly, micro and small producing establishments. There are various difficulties detected, among which we may mention those of a technical and regulatory nature, document management, public health, income, illegality, market access, economic or financial aspects. Characterizing the compliance degree for micro and small companies producing alcoholic beverages makes it possible to identify the largest gaps and enables a technical instrument development. Thus, a guide was designed with an evaluation structure that delves into the verification of the different sanitary requirements, along with components of technical support, evaluation, and weighting based on a risk approach. Therefore, it was observed how the system management-related variables and the monitoring of actions require closer attention, based on non-compliance percentages. - Integrated management systems in the mining sector

This systematic literature review article was developed aiming at identifying the main models of integrated management systems (IMS) for small, medium and large companies; this by means of a bibliometric analysis that made it possible to determine which are the models used for the integration of systems in each of the types of companies analyzed. IMSs are understood as a single set of interconnected processes wherein two or more management systems are included; These were explored through qualitative and descriptive research, in the search, collection, debugging and analysis of information from the Science Direct, Scopus, Redalyc and Google Scholar databases. Based on the results, it was found that integration strategies are generaly designed instead of being focused on organization sizes, that is, they are implemented for any size of company. As conclusions, it was evidenced that they focus on sectors such as energy, fuels, ceramics, food, medicine, metalworking, among others. - Strategies and methods for knowledge management in accordance with the NTC-ISO 30401: 2019 requirements
