The traditional way of teaching programming has proven to be ineffective in motivating new generations of engineers to find their career path. At the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga, the decision was made to create a strategy to solve this problem, with the purpose of improving performance metrics on students and teachers, as well as guiding the curriculum towards specific trends in the discipline (apps, IoT, web, AI and videogames) and, finally, review the tools, platforms and programming languages that were trending worldwide to include them in the teaching plan jointly with an experimental gamification methodology designed by the teachers themselves. As a result, overall grades improved, dropout rates decreased, and the overall student population increased. - Epistemological currents and their implications in education

This article seeks to present the epistemic principles of the scientific method from Mario Bunge, given that epistemology supports the postulates of schools such as Frankfurt —with its main exponents: Adorno, Marcuse, Horkheimer, from the perspective of critical thinking, and thinking about capitalism— and the French epistemological current —with its exponents: Michel Foucault, Gaston Bachelard and Louis Althusser. These postulates allow us to elucidate the implications for education from critical knowledge, since this is a complex activity in which different variables are involved: actions, ideas, feelings, people, objects and institutions. - Dialogical ethics, a pedagogical interface that contributes to the construction of a culture of peace in Colombia

With the peace agreement signed between the State of Colombia and the FARC-EP guerrilla, a process of a culture of peace was formally initiated, which, among others, has the challenges of rectifying the barbaric events that occurred in the conflict and committing itself not to repeat them. The main objective of this peace process is to offer a future without fratricidal conflicts to the new generations and, therefore, a peaceful society. After this agreement, one of the main challenges is to once again receive in the civilian population all the ex-combatants for whom for many years the only way to solve conflicts was violence. Therefore, in order to continue building peace, we propose dialogical ethics as the most appropriate means of solving conflicts and a vital tool for processes of citizen recognition and reincorporation. - The role of the teacher-advisor in the practicum of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation and Sport

This article is based on the results of the research projects “Orientações pedagógicas no estágio supervisionado de educação física na Colômbia, Brasil, Argentina e Chile” and “Senses of the body modes and teaching knowledge of the practicum in Physical Education, Recreation and Sports of the Universidad de Caldas”, motivated by the interest in understanding the role and characteristics of the teacher-advisor in the training of the practitioner-teacher, in the context of the practicum of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation and Sport. It is a research design supported by the qualitative approach, of historical-descriptive-hermeneutic nature, with multiple case study, in-depth interview techniques and documentary analysis. In this context, the results presented focus on the role of teacher-advisor from the reflection, action, orientation, advice and relationship with those involved in the practicum, to contribute to the knowledge of teaching practices, the role of teacher-advisor and the view of the practitioners-teachers on this, and how teaching knowledge come together facilitating didactic actions and strengthening the teaching identity. - ICT/ACT: Young University Students’ Subjectivities in Monteria

This paper analyzes the subjectivities that are being generated in the university students in Monteria on these technologies and the educational transits that occur with it. Therefore, a case study was carried out, from known subject epistemology perspective. Information collection was done by means of participant observation, focus groups, life relates-histories and digital narrations. Participants were 28 young students between 18 and 23 years from different undergraduate programs. Among conclusions, ICT/ACT have a preponderant role in the construction of subjectivities of young people; therefore, they could foster the development of a critical subject with access to a large amount of information that, in certain circumstances, would turn knowledge into knowledge; nevertheless, they also could generate a passive subject to information, consumer and with few intellectual processes. In this sense, some subjects are being replicated, copied, transferred, indeed, Young Cyber-homogenized, which are connected by cyberspace, but which are simultaneously homogenized through their dress, body building, and ways of relating. - Impact of university welfare programs on the quality of life of students

The objective of this study is to identify and describe the impact of wellness programs on the quality of life of university students. A retrospective and descriptive bibliometric study was performed; Articles indexed in the Scopus database were reviewed, of which 11 publications were selected to prepare this article, taking into account the title, affiliation of the authors, abstract and conclusions. 81.8% of the students who participated in a university wellness program had a positive impact on their quality of life. In 18.2%, no significant differences were found between students who participated and those who did not participate. Quality of life is a cross-sectional variable in university wellness programs, which makes it necessary to evaluate other factors when establishing an intervention strategy. - Strategy for strengthening and monitoring generic competences in university context

This article presents the results of the research “Strengthening the development of generic competences in university students from an external evaluation model”, developed from the qualitative approach, with educational research-action design with teachers from the Early Childhood Education Bachelor’s Degree program of the Fundación Universitaria de San Gil (Unisangil). As a result, an educational strategy was designed for the strengthening of generic competences in students of academic programs of a Colombian higher education institution, especially for the design and application of classroom activities from the updating of documents that support the curriculum and a guide to direct the process. It was concluded that making use of both the generic competences proposed by the Icfes and the competences assumed by the ies, in the design of syllabus and work plans, is useful for the execution and monitoring of classroom activities and learning. - Editorial

This article is the result of the systematization of the experience with teacher guidance within the framework of the professional practice of social workers. The systematization process contains three phases: reconstruction of the experience, interpretation and empowerment of pedagogical practice, carried out from the criticalsocial approach based on the results of the process developed with three experiences during one year. The results highlight the interest of the students in materializing the ethical and political project devised for the profession, and the tensions present between the forces that make up the field (agents and institutions). In addition, students tend to return to positivism and with the passage of practice they adapt to the logic of the commercialized educational project, a place in which the teacher has contributed to indoctrinate for the labor market. The greatest challenge of teaching guidance is focused on promoting within the academic unit the discussion around competences and the evaluation system created for academic practices, as well as maintaining constant analysis of the contemporary socio-political context in order to promote the development of critical and reflective capacities. - Social Networks Analysis as a tool to study Innovation Systems. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis and a systematic review of the literature on the application of social network analysis as a method to study innovation systems. The review was made from 2001 to 2017. The search was made in the bibliographic indexes: Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection. A set of 1091 records was obtained, in which a bibliometric analysis of the activity, the relationship and the impact was carried out. On the other hand, the selection of 29 articles was made using specific inclusion criteria, which allowed the construction of categories associated with patents, co-authorship networks, information on joint projects, combinations of data sources, among others. - Discourses, practices and themes of early childhood teachers about sexual and gender diversity: limits and possibilities for the consolidation of an inclusive education

Since the beginning of the present century, relevant legal and political developments have been taking place that promotes the recognition, respect, and valuation of sexual and gender diversity; However, these efforts have been insufficient to transform the reality of the discrimination and violence that these days will face in these population sectors in school settings; this, mainly, by the indifference with the teachers assume this subject or their ideological prejudices. A situation that is highlighted in this article as a result of the autoethnographic investigative exercise carried out during a training process for early childhood teachers from different Secretariats of Education at the national level. With this work, we hope to raise awareness of the urgent need to work to train teachers around the construction of sexual citizenships from the educational setting. - Approaches to a proposal for education for peace with a gender perspective in the case of the Colombian post-conflict

Women in Latin America have been victims of violence in the armed conflict; so, as a response to the violence experienced, some have chosen to participate in peacebuilding. In Colombia, women -in the peace agreement context- managed to include the mainstreaming of the gender approach. This fact constituted a historical milestone that invited reflection on the role of women in peacebuilding and the appropriate educational training conditions to enhance their leadership, in the way to enduring and sustainable peace. These issues justified this research on education, gender, and peace, which proposed to design an educational training proposal for the construction of healthy, equitable, and peaceful gender relationships in the post-conflict in Colombia. This paper shows the results of the investigation exploratory phase, and it explains the perception that 134 men and women ex-FARC combatants had in Colombia in 2018, regarding the mainstreaming of the gender perspective in the final peace agreement. - Strategies for capacity building in science, technology and innovation in higher education

The development of an analytical study at the Santo Tomás University generated a Program for Capacities in Science, Technology and Innovation (CTeI) consisting of eight strategies. The proposed strategies correspond to study groups, academic groups, work groups, research hotbeds, an institutional program for young researchers, a program for research managers, an institutional program for scientific vocations and graduate work. The Program enables 100% of students to train science, technology and innovation skills, articulate substantive and adjective functions, appropriate the culture of research and innovation, encourage the participation of students and graduates in the development of research projects and innovation with the participation of the State, the productive sector and civil society, consolidate the active lines of research, the institutional fields of action with the participation of students and graduates, enhancing the capacities and abilities of students and graduates to improve their professional profile from the research and innovation perspective. - Analysis of the humanistic training component given to Colombian National Police officers between 2010 and 2019 and its impact on the consolidation of a comprehensive professional with a vocation to service

Objective: Analyze how the training offered to National Police officers in Colombia between 2010 and 2019 has influenced professional work, particularly in the consolidation of a comprehensive professional with a vocation to service, aimed at improving the Colombians’ perception regarding the image of the institution. Method: a mixed methodology was developed with which an effective guideline for the dimension of the research project will be generated with five phases that frame all the content. Results: the assessment of experts was obtained both on human talent management and its police training, and on its police service. Likewise, it was possible to carry out a survey of a representative sample of officer courses 101 to 105, which was proposed based on the humanism guidelines established in the institution since 2010. Discussion and conclusion: the significant contribution is the integration of all the components that frame a professional ideal of police, oriented to its formation as leader of new social changes; this magnitude refers once again to the fact that humanism in the National Police frames comprehensive professionals and with vocation towards the Colombian community, confirmed by the results obtained in the research work. - The current profile of the undergraduate student of the Faculty of Distance Learning of the UMNG and their preference when studying a postgraduate course

This article seeks to update the profile of students studying undergraduate degrees in virtual-distance form, enrolled in the Faculty of Distance Learning (Faedis) of the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, making a comparison between the periods 2015-II and 2018-II, comparing their economic, demographic and institutional aspects. The descriptive methodology was used by conducting surveys of a sample of 14.2% of the active student community. It was observed that the majority of the students who answered the survey are in the age range of 26 to 45 years, which shows that it is an adult-young population; however, the 17-20 year-old group shows a significant increase. Likewise, students promptly demand that the Faculty offers a greater number of specializations and master's degrees, and among their interest is the Master’s Degree in Senior Management (MBA), and they hope that their focus will be advanced. - Community’s telesecundaria and telebachillerato in question. The research framed in this article was investigated from the perspective of teachers from a locality in the State of Guanajuato, explains the functioning of two mexican educational models operating in rural areas: telesecundaria and telebachillerato. Methodologically, a qualitative study using discussion groups as a central technique for dialogue with the teachers in situ, was designed. The results showed fissures presented by the two models, in order to provide quality education for the rural population, among others: the academic lay back of students is the result from the education received at the previous levels and the difficulties, this entails the deployment of the pedagogical principles of the two models. In addition, there is a discontinuity between the continuous training received by the teachers and the real difficulties they face in everyday scholastic life.
