- Virtual Reality Progress and Interventions in Clinical Psychology

This paper presents an overview of the advances in the use of Virtual Reality (VR) as a technological tool that has been incorporated into the research and intervention in clinical psychology. The contributions of VR in the clinical intervention of anxiety disorders and eating disorders are characterized, as well as the possibilities it offers for the investigation of phenomena such as psychosis or the configuration of complex systems that allow different therapeutic functions such as the EMMA system. Finally, the usefulness and possibilities offered by VR systems are discussed. - Conflict Transformation and Peace Culture Colombian Classrooms Construction

We consider aspects raised by recent research on the school conflict in Colombia, analyzing the circumstances that have favored the migration from a perspective of conflict resolution to visions such as the constructive transformation of conflict and the construction of peace in educational contexts, pointing out aspects or factors to take into account for better management of conflicts. The proposal by Droisy and Zaouche-Gaudron (2003) is taken as a definition, who affirm that the conflict is: "a state of resistance, disagreement or opposition between at least two people"; Determining factors in the response to the conflict and strategies that are commonly used are reviewed. After formulating a context on violence and education in Colombia, the five defined styles of conflict resolution are addressed (Oredein & Eigbe, 2014). Some aspects of the peaceful transformation of conflicts and some initiatives to address the conflict in Colombian schools are reviewed. It is concluded that it is essential to empower the different agents in the transformation of the conflict (understanding their perceptions about violence, its causes and how to deal with it), that interventions in the school environment can not be focused only on the students and it is necessary to review the violence established in the school in order to denaturalize abuses and unfair practices; It is also necessary to distort negative individualism in a competitive social environment, usually fostered in Colombian classrooms to focus on an education in which each person learns to take the other truly into account. - Motivation and Learning Strategies in Universidad de Caldas’ Students

This research describes the behavior of students of a Colombian university before a validated test from which you can measure motivational components and use of learning strategies in the subjects. The correlation of subcategories between a scale of motivation and a scale of learning strategies was analyzed in order to establish the type of associations that could happen. 547 students from different undergraduate programs of the University of Caldas, took the Questionnaire of Motivation and Learning Strategies (CMEA). Positive correlation was found between orientation to intrinsic goals with orientation to extrinsic goals, value of the task and self-efficacy for learning; orientation to extrinsic goals with task value, control beliefs, self-efficacy for learning and test anxiety; value of the task with self-efficacy for learning and control beliefs with anxiety before the exams. All the items of the learning strategies scale (less the regulation of effort) are correlated in a positive way, effort regulation was not associated to the learning with elaboration. likewise, when the items of the motivation scale and the learning strategies were crossed, the associations were direct in most cases once again, except for control beliefs against organization and control beliefs against peer learning. - Algunas mostraciones de una tensión genealógica en las historias de las psicologías en Colombia

This article, about the history of psychology in Colombia, seeks to highlight different historical manifestations of the same tension, founding, following a genealogical method, in the manner of Foucault and Nietzsche, which does not respect a linear chronological order, but assumes the spiral of history, in which we can find repetitions of the same categories, as Hegel enunciated and we have sustained in previous writings. Indeed, from a phrase published in the newspaper El Espectador approximately in 1978, the article returns to the conquest of South America where the same tension emerges with another face, that of the slave traders, then jumps to the proposals theoretical and empirical studies of a nineteenth-century author in the United States, considered the founder of a psychological school, to then consider the original proposals of psychometrics, which are brought from Europe, from the Geneva school to our country by Mercedes Rodrigo Bellido, who is considered founder of the first psychology faculty in the country. The article then reviews the purposes and intentions that could have Mercedes Rodrigo, contrasting them with the eugenic ideas of some thinkers of that time and of today. - What Does Language Have that Allows to Cure and Treat in the Human? In one of his first experiences in the field of scientific journalism, Carlos Cortés Yagüe, journalist trained at the Carlos III University of Madrid, Spain, delves into the difficult subject of psychosis and madness. In his research he finds the work done by Jairo Báez and his research group, which has been published in several articles and different numbers of our Magazine. These, among others, were the ones that provoked the following interview, which, having knowledge of it, we thought it was interesting to leave it reflected in our pages, with the prior permission of its protagonists. In a succinct manner and in a clear intention to respond to the journalist's concerns, the researcher shows in a simple way what has kept him working in his long research career: What is in the language, which allows a cure and treatment in the human? - Conceptions Around the Fair Causes in the Declaration of War

In order to understand the armed conflict phenomena, some investigations about attitudes and moral judgment toward war has been made from the social psychology field. The present research explores the attitudes and discourses concerning what may be a right circumstance or reason to use military force. A structured questionnaire was built and applied, based on discussions and principles of just war theory, which is a philosophical approach that considers the criteria to legitimize the war declaration and regulate the military behavior. 169 People were recruited, including demobilized people from illegal armed groups (FARC and AUC), member of armed forces and university students. By means of the data analysis, it is concluded that most of participants agree with justifications of war based on the defense of human rights. At the same time, significant gender, group and educational level differences were found, which allows claiming that exist a relation among the personal and social factors and the concepts and positions towards justice in war.
