This article gathers some reflections about the quantitative-qualitative methods and the epistemological discussions that underlie its staging in the academic world. In order to do so, it retakes some historical elements that were key in the definition of its peculiarities, as well as those debates that generated a rupture in its perception like “false opposites”. From this, it raises the importance of dynamizing an integral reading of reality, where quantitative-qualitative does not constitute an exclusive, but mutually constitutive, plural and dialogic view. The article closes with the presentation of some participatory methodologies, with special emphasis on PAR, recognizing their progress in the integration of perspectives (qualitative and quantitative) for the situated compression and critique of social reality

The present article exposes the results obtained in the research about the predictors of behavior that motivates water storage in endemic neighborhoods of Barranquilla, Bucaramanga and Armenia, in Colombia. Through monitoring the storage, water supply and type of maintenance of recipients in sentinel houses, and a questionnaire on household adaptation to water supply, it was determined the social and environmental factors involved in to human behavior, particularly related to water storage. Amongst the main motivations for such storage it was found the periodic interruptions of water supply, and the need for cost reduction in thepublic service. Through the findings was evidenced the pertinence of developing multisector strategies, including a phase of sensitization about the need for generating appropriate and safe practices of storage, in order to reduce the production of the dengue vector within the households

This article seeks to provide data collected through a research, whose main focus is aimed at identifying the representations that young people, aged 14 to 17 years old, have in a school located at Usme (south of Bogotá, Colombia). It presents perceptions about what they are, what they want to show through their Facebook profile picture. The article presents the background, the theoretical framework, the methodological design used, and finally, a categorization that was conducted by the research subjects which try to explain what social representations are immersed in. Finally, conclusions appear as a result of a qualitative, hermeneutical and participatory exercise research

The present article proposes to show an analysis about the life plans of the Nasa indigenous from North Cauca (department in Colombia) and their form of organization, specially those who are located in the municipality and indigenous shelter of Jambaló, in relation to the conventional development plans, doing emphasis on the differences and convergences between one and another form of planning, in order to enrich the discussion on the ways of planning in the country and the need to re-mean the development and the everyday life

The following text presents an approach to the forms in which discursive actors are built in the law 975 of 2005 (Justice and Peace Law) in Colombia. The inclusive and exclusive processes of actors, and diverse linguistic strategies are taken into account.The research process comprehends three phases: a) Corpus description and analytic process based on textual statistics, resource and strategies identification and categories construction; b) Analysis of results; c) Interpretation of results from a social and cultural perspective

The article reflects about how the parents’ process of participation in the school, expressed in the ways of relationship that are established between them, shows isomorphism with the dynamics of violence that have characterized historically and culturally the society of our Colombian context. The analysis is founded on the legitimization of such violence, as a way of social interaction, through the domination devices in the areas of the body, language and space (Castillejo, 2009). The ideas exposed in this article are from the initial findings of the research “Representations about the parents’ participation in the school”, that the author is developing in the school “Colegio San Bernardino IED” in Bogotá, but this doesn’t constitutes a report of the research nor exposes its results, is an analysis of some aspects identified on the field work that show the presence of violence dynamics on the school context

Identifying the current growing of social phenomenons that get to modify society, it was developed a reseach focused on cocreation as social innovation that takes relevance in urban culture development, based on the question: How cocreation is articulated inside a city-brand strategy in order to transform its positioning? In order to answer, it was established a theorical base, in the same way, reported cases about the topic were analyzed to finally choose Medellín to make an online documental tracking to its strategy as a city-brand from the social cocreation platform MiMiedellin.org. It is analyzed its contribution to create a defined positioning, and finally it is identified how cocreation trascends and achieves to become transverse axis of all the city strategy, contributing significantly to its construction as a Brand, and positively transforming its position locally and internationally
