Within the framework of the Bicentennial of the Independence of the Latin American nations, this article analyzes the complicated challenge of the conservation of the troops in Venezuela during the phase of the ceasefire decreed by the armistice signed in 1820 in Trujillo. In this internal dynamic of the military forces, the strong influence of the prevailing political environment and the fluctuating game of loyalties in this final phase of the independence process could be verified. Within the stream of new military history, an attempt is made to examine not only recruitment efforts but also high levels of desertion and changing sides that were especially detrimental to the royalist side, which ultimately ended up tipping the balance towards the realist side. Republican side. Finally, the process of replenishing the force is addressed, either through pardon for new recruits. - A country portrayed by Manuel Ancízar. Manuel Ancízar wrote a series of articles by the time he joined the Chorographic Commission project along the national territory of Colombia in the Nineteen century. Such articles were serialized in El Neogranadino Newspaper, and later published in a collection called The Pilgrimage of “Alpha”. As a whole, those written pieces were supposed to be, not only a description of the provinces of Nueva Granada, but a narrative construction that included descriptions of territory, weather, crops, economy basis, people, manners, customs, education facilities, religion and politics influences. In concrete, Manuel Ancízar built a hybrid relate to integrate the scientific data about the provinces collected by all the members of the Chorographic Commission but, far from being an unappealing report, the resulting croniques managed to captivate common readers as they were written under the coordinates of the costumbrism aesthetic. On this paper it is analysed the literary form and content of “Peregrinación” de “Alpha” in both its inner-textual dimensions and the social environment that surrounded its first publication. - Who is Kant’s genius?.

The nature of the Kantian genius, one of the most disturbing figures in the aesthetics of the philosopher of Königsberg, is discussed, conjecturing about the possible role of freedom of the imagination in the genius’ task of “giving rule to art”. The darkness of the philosopher is postulated to explain the origin of the genius, darkness that would be explained by the permanent tension that crosses all the critique of aesthetic judgement between genius and taste, or if you like, between freedom and academia. - Platonic dogs.
