This article is an attempt to relate my own setting up as an educator, psychologist and supervisor. I include this outline incited by the constant challenges that mobilize me in exercising these assignments within the context of the Net of Private Schools permanently striving to revitalize their educational mission. This article is an interconnection between Critical Environmental Education and Law, seeking to discuss participatory democracy in the Judiciary, having as justification the need to understand Critical Environmental Education and thinking from the Democratic State, adding possibilities for direct participation of citizens in decisions. Thus, it raises the question: Can Critical Environmental Education and Law develop environmental knowledge for the benefit of participatory democracy in the Judiciary? In this context, the objective is to analyze how Critical Environmental Education and Law can contribute to the formation of environmental knowledge and achieve participatory democracy in the Judiciary. This research consists of a qualitative approach, with theoretical-methodological analysis, through bibliographic and documental means and, to understand and interpret the information, the technique of content analysis and sampling was used. As the main results obtained, the need to break with traditional dogmatics is highlighted, at the same time that the intense and necessary approximation of Law with Critical Environmental Education is perceived. Emphasis is also placed on social participation in spaces for debates about diffuse rights that can be established through democracy. For this, a reconstruction carried out through the critical nature of Environmental Education is essential. It was shown here that it is necessary to understand the spaces for dialogue and the scope of participatory democracy. The fact is that it is necessary to break with traditional demands in the Judiciary and transpose, through Critical Environmental Education, into a new relationship with the judges, in favor of the community in a space of participatory democracy. - A memória desenhada: identidades de um intelectual no interior de Goiás-Brasil

Este artículo es una reflexión sobre la historia de vida de los intelectuales en el sudeste goiano, en especial, la historia de vida y formación del profesor Braz José Coelho, profesor jubilado de la Universidad Federal de Goiás, Campus Catalão. Este artículo forma parte de una indagación que vengo construyendo a lo largo de mi vida como profesor e investigador de Historia de la Educación: ¿dónde están los sujetos de la Historia de la educación de este país que poco aparecen en los libros de Historia? ¿Cómo construyen los profesores las historias sobre sí mismos? ¿Qué marca la formación de un profesor? Antes de comenzar la entrevista, de forma juguetona, dice Braz: “tú preguntas y yo miento”, y siguen risas. Yo digo: “la mentira forma parte de la memoria, ¿cierto?”. Given the relevance of the Saber 11º test scores for educational institutions, this paper maskes a critical review of the actions aimed at improving quality. A historical development of the concept of evaluation is presented, from its beginnings to present ideas in order to assess its function. Using a qualitative methodology of ethnographic nature, the hidden curricula of three schools from the Department of Córdoba were revealed, which represent the different approaches to teaching quality. Such actions include exclusion, dishonesty, inequality and symbolic violence strategies. It is concluded that the academic effects of these actions carry more harm than good. - Academic Performance and Classroom Size: PISA 2012 Evidence

<p>In this paper we estimate the impact caused by the size of the classroom, understood as the number of students per classroom, and the academic performance of Latin American ninth grade students, based on the PISA 2012 results. A linear model estimated by ordinary least squares is used to calculate the net effect of group size, introducing institutional, family and student variables used as control. It is estimated that the 1% increase in the number of classroom students decreases the test score by 0.1% on average; however, this factor has relatively less impact than other, more significant factors, such as the household’s socioeconomic level or the parents’ education.</p> - Acerca de la noción general de estilo en la educación pertinencia, importancia y especificidad

This paper explores the frequency of the concept “style” in Educational indexes and journals, taking into consideration the different senses and meanings that the concept recieves. This allows the author to arrive to a particular definition of the concept, different form similar notions. Con la publicación del número 55 (enero-junio de 2010), Actualidades Pedagógicas da inicio a su quinta década de circulación, pues el primer número apareció en agosto de 1970. Sin embargo, y a pesar de su larga trayectoria de cuarenta años de existencia (que cumplió con la edición 54 de julio-diciembre de 2009), la Revista no había realizado hasta hoy ninguna investigación que diera cuenta de su recorrido histórico y de su contenido. El Índice General 1970-2010 constituye el primer trabajo que viene a llenar ese vacío, pues ofrece a la comunidad académica una evidencia documental en la cual se organiza y sistematiza en cuatro subíndices especializados y una reseña estadística del material publicado por ella. - Affective traits in the learning styles of students at the Faculty of Education of the Institución Universitaria Cesmag in Pasto (Colombia)

<p>This article presents the results of the research project Learning styles of students at the Faculty of Education of the Institución Universitaria Cesmag, which aimed to characterize the motivational processes and expectations of students according to their learning styles. The methodology is based on qualitative research, using the historical-hermeneutic approach as well as ethnographic method; participant observation and focus groups were conducted, and the collected data was examined using the categorical analysis technique. The study evidenced the importance of affective traits as determinants of socio-cognitive preparation regarding learning objectives and tasks; similarly, it identified motivational factors and student expectations. It was found that although students may have dominant traits in a specific style, this involves affective traits from other styles too.</p> - Afro-Colombians in School Books: Analysis of Illustrations in Three Colombian Elementary School Social Science Books

This paper presents the conclusions of a doctorate research work based on the search of graphic elements that would show the way Afro-Colombians are represented in the books used to teach children. The pictures in three Colombian elementary school social science books were analyzed, in order to determine the presence of discrimination against skin color. Four analysis categories were established (gender, occupation, context and wardrobe), with their corresponding subcategories. The results show the presence of images with discriminatory content in regards to the Afro-Colombian population. - Analysis of Blogs, Twitter and Facebook Accounts, and Websites with Religious Education Content

<p>This paper will address an analysis of blogs, Twitter and Facebook accounts, and sites on the Internet including religious teaching content. This research is justified by the fact that it enables data collection on issues related to education such as: vision of Religious Education on the Internet and elements of analysis for digital objects; it also provides opportunities for new knowledge about education and possible purposes for Religious Education. <p>This article aimed to analyze student dropout and factors associated with the permanence of students enrolled in the first cycles at the Universidad Privada del Norte (UPN), Trujillo campus (Peru), during the academic period between 2008 and 2012. To this effect, a Service Satisfaction Survey (SSS) was applied, as well as information was collected from the enrollment unit. The data analysis consisted of calculating the Semiannual Desertion Index (SDI) and assessing the relationship among different factors of the SSS. The results revealed an annual increase in SDI. Student permanence is predicted based on student satisfaction, by guaranteeing academic and infrastructure quality. It is concluded that student dropout has negative consequences for the institution; it is necessary, therefore, to identify other factors that predict student retention.</p> - Aportes del modelo psicolingüístico a la escritura

<p>This article presents an approach to learning in spaces of artistic creation, whose central axis is based on the practical actions inherent to various production methodologies in the visual arts creation processes. Methodologically, the research uses a documentary review to describe and analyze learning practices in research/creation, visual semiotic reading, and creative actions, which converge in the search for holistic development in the formation of the student. The main finding shows that artistic practice, from its experimental and experiential characterization, favors the development of skills in academic formation, disciplinary domain, and sociocultural areas developed in spaces of interdisciplinary relationship.</p> - An approach to the theological and pastoral method and its construction from the mercy principle

The theological routine is a dynamic activity that may have two movements: one is to turn towards itself and another one to the outside. To do theology is a two ways dynamics; one way gives what to think; the other one leads how to act. So it is a dynamic in two moments: ad-intra and ad-extra theological routine between the movement that is made ad-intra: to think oneself to systematized oneself and the one that is done ad-extra: to project, to confront, to enrich oneself with the contexts to generate the praxis. The how to do theology ad-intra or ad-extra will determine its reflection-systematization as well as its actionprojection. The idea is not to separate these two dynamics but to make separate these two dynamics but to make possible a reflection of the method based on them. This article shows the approach and the archeological and methodological structure of the research from a Foucault position as a possibility to make an inquiry on the concept of pedagogic-educational practice. First of all, a theoretical context on the pedagogic practice is presented within the framework of the historic reflection proposed by Foucault. On the other hand, a description of the problem is presented highlighting the concept of «possibility conditions» as a transversal axis of the Foucault research proposal. Then, the urgent need to qualify educational pedagogic practices in the Schools of Education is presented. Active methodologies have acquired great prominence in current school education. Concepts such as Gamification or Game-Based Learning have emerged as new methods to promote meaningful learning from games. Together with the rise of new technologies, it seems that board games have been relegated to the past, ignoring their possible relevance in teaching-learning processes. In order to assess its application and the development of values, this article presents a proposal to adapt La Oca, El Cluedo and El Party in school Physical Education. Through the information obtained by the participating students and the teacher of the area, the results of this case study are presented.
