The effect of forage production of native and introduced pastures on milk production in nine municipalities of the department of Caquetá was evaluated. 68 herds with double purpose system were sampled during February 2016 until June 2019, in which the productive performance of pastures and cows in production were evaluated. Monthly, pastures were graded before the entrance of the cows in production, to estimate biomass production. Two days after the cows entered the pastures, individual milk weighing was performed. The information was tabulated in an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed using descriptive statistics using the Infostat statistical program version 2020 (Di Rienzo et al., 2020). In the present study, it was identified that among the pastures evaluated, the Pennisetum purpureumcv OM22 presented a greater amount of forage production and greater efficiency in milk production, as well as the effect that breed type and lactation has on production.
