The article aims to establish a socioeconomic profile of children and adolescents participating in the Forces in Sport Program (PROFESP) of CEFAN, in addition to describing the main reasons for joining and staying, as well as the expected contribution of the project in their lives. This is a cross-sectional study. In a single visit, 104 participants (97 males and 43 females, aged between 10 and 17 years) filled out an anamnesis form as a form of socioeconomic characterization, containing personal and family data, as well as reasons for joining, motivation and social contribution of the program to the student. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee in accordance with the guidelines of Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council, under protocol CAAE 93823218.4.0000.5256. The socioeconomic profile of PROFESP/CEFAN participants is self-declared children and adolescents with mostly brown and black skin color, with one to two siblings, family with four individuals, and family income in the range of one to three minimum wages. Regarding the education of guardians, a higher level was observed for female mothers or guardians. The main reasons for joining PROFESP were the practice of sports and the occupation of free time. Regarding the motivation to stay in the project, sports practice and the infrastructure of CEFAN were the main incentive factors. Finally, the improvement in discipline and the improvement in the quality of life were pointed out as the main contributions to the lives of these children and adolescents interviewed.
